One of my videos hit 100k views a couple of nights ago - thank you so much for your support! Starting in the middle of your work, tie a double half hitch knot with the two centre strands. These two pieces of rope will now become your filler cords. Tie four double half hitch knots on both sides of your work moving down. The two current middle strands will now become your filler cords. Tie four more double half hitch knots on both sides of your work moving down. Leave about 1/2 an inch (1.3cm) of space between your first row and your second row. We will create one more row of double half hitch knots - repeat the same process as your second row. We will now create a berry knot in the middle. Using the outer cords, tie 6 half square knots around all other cords. Grab the inner cords and loop them through the middle of your work. Using the outer cords, tie two more half square knots (one square knot) around the inner cords to secure your work in place. Thanks so much for watching! With rock (wire will not slip off) you can apply to almost all rock shapes (especially unspecified shapes) and use wire as well as cord (I don't have those stones so I can't do it) In this video I made with copper wire and the stone has a definite, smooth shape (easy-to-slip rope) so it is only suitable heart-shaped, water-drop, oval, other shapes can be applied but the durability will not be high . Depending on the size of the product, you can use it as a pendant, necklaces, earrings, keychains, or decorations. The length and diameter of the wire used depends on the size of the stone you have Suitable wire diameter is 0.3mm ( 28 gauge) - 0.4mm (26 gauge). Length from 30cm ( 12 inch) - 50cm ( 20 inch) Use tape to fix the wire to stone, so that the cord does not fall during the process, making it easier to operate. You can knit as tight or sparse you like In the video I use : 28 gauge ( wire diameter 0.3mm ) : 30cm( 12 inch) Heart shaped stone 1.8cm Don't be discouraged if you don't succeed the first time. With this pattern, figuring out how to avoid slipping while doing and using it, I had to try almost 20 times with different stone shapes, before being satisfied to shoot video. Just comment below! Because he purchased the materials for this project, I did not keep track of every inch used. It is a free form project, and I let the wires flow as they wanted. This obsidian piece goes way back with my friend and I; it started as a lovely lump he used as a paperweight, and very much enjoyed. In 2009, I was granted access to lapidary equipment, with mild instruction. He sent me his lump to play with, and I was able to fashion a semi-decent “crystal point” from a piece of the original. (Not bad for my very first try!) I wrapped it in copper for him, and for a few years he wore it. However, as my skills advanced, we both saw room for improvement! I have since re-wrapped it a couple times, each time better than the last. This will hopefully last several more years before we change our minds again!
