The planet of new ideas makes the native’s appearance and manner original, bright and lively and gives a special liking for abstract study, occultism and modern lines in science and art. Little store is set on convention and the usual ideas of the surroundings. Placed here Uranus strengthens what is the peculiar and particularly characteristic side of the native and indicates very original theories and methods of working which he applies successfully. He is especially interested in education in the widest sense of the word, the formation development of strong characters. Quite earl in life parents and the whole of the near environment will be in despair about the queer child and doubt his ever getting right. Although a harmoniously aspected Uranus may for himself have reached clear and true vision, a practical ordinary man will regard his views as “music of the future” never to be realized.
When afflicted all kinds of unexpected hindrances arise, so that plans cannot be carried out; with women miscarriage occur, and the children themselves will often meet with accidents or suffer from rare diseases.
Sixth House
Uranus in 6th House gives to the native’s way of working and living a great measure of originality and inventiveness, an intense abhorrence of banality and convention and strong craving to be able to live his own life in accordance with his own views and habits.
This position gives the admiration and friendship of people who are the exact contrary and who hope to gain in wit by this connection. This involves of course a possibility of the native’s being spoiled especially by those who are lower in evolution. If however he is able to retain his innate ingenuousness and honesty, a cheering, inspiring influence will emanate from this character.
Uranus in 6th House afflicted makes the native unreasonable, nervous, at times vehemently passionate. Sudden fancies of fear or delusive ideas rob him of both his courage and love of work. Afflictions may lead to very eccentric ideas and actions. Such person has great difficulty in keeping to the work that ought to be done and again and again is quite unexpectedly diverted so that his subordinates receive all kinds of confusing injunctions. Uranus indicates here peculiar ailments, difficult to cure and of a mental nature; so it will be much the best for the native to keep at rest as much as possible and allow his mind to expand until possessed by purity, peace and freedom from care and anxiety. This will by no means be easy to this passionate and hasty temperament, but spiritual welfare is too important to physical health for this advice to be incontinently rejected. Regular work, a simple way of living, avoidance of all stimulants and above all fixed times of rest may prevent or compensate very much of the bad influence of Uranus. In an advanced stage of disease much help maybe derived from massage, electric treatment, radiation and similar methods.
Seventh House
Uranus in 7th House gives platonic ideas regarding marriage. The native wishes marriage relations to be more idealistic than the reality usually is or than the social relations of the day allow. A person who has this position of Uranus is not easily understood by a partner. This position often causes jealousy and slander or pharisaical criticism of the ordinary commonplace man who cannot follow a Uranus type with his crazes. A divorce followed by a continuance of comrade like intercourse is beyond the comprehension of the “sensuous” man. When there is a difference of opinion or something for which they have gone to law Uranus will lose his case before the earthly judge, but feel fully justified before the Heavenly Judge. But as so little reliance can be placed on Uranus’ impulses, it is advisable for the native to keep as much as possible current ideas rather than to walk on thin ice.
Uranus presupposes a very large circle of acquaintances. The intimates however will often vary, since great estrangement may arise from trifles and yet again and again comrades are wished for. The native’s own irritability is usually the cause of difference unless it be a kind of fear that he may not receive as much affection as he is conscious of giving. In this way sometime friends may turn into enemies, an end which might have been avoided. Here the best advice is ‘Do well and never mind the consequences’.
Marriage is often looked upon as too great a limitation and therefore banished from thought.
Eighth House
Uranus in 8th House. Harmoniously placed, this position of Uranus indicates great interest in the problem of heredity, sin, death and penitence. And connected with this also psycho-analysis. There is a likelihood of strange dreams, also of so-called day dreams. Things will often happen of which he has already dreamt. Occult faculties are present, but as soon as they are *toyed” with they disappear or revenge themselves in some other way.
The power of suggestion to cure illnesses can also be applied to others but only if there be no attempt to derive personal profit.
The 8th house (Scorpio) symbolizes the raising of mind above purified matter – generation and regeneration – and Uranus here is strongly posited. Matter must be overcome before the mind can find happiness in the 9th house (the house of philosophy, consciousness and knowledge); for which many voluntary sacrifices or many bitter experiences will be necessary.
Death comes unexpectedly, usually through an accident. It will be well at all times to be prepared for the transition.
When afflicted this position leads to sudden, unaccountable difficulties as regards the partner’s possessions.
Much unpleasant Karma must be worked off here but there is also great likelihood that when rightly solved important progress in evolution may be made. Higher insight is therefore very needful in all occurrences and circumstances.
Every action should be directed by a desire for what is good and great confidence in its power. Apparently the most impossible and unexpected situations will occur in this life and cause much amazement and alarm; they dissolve however in as peculiar a manner as that by which they arose, and sometimes prove clearly to have been brought about by the native’s own wrong thought images, which purer, clearer conceptions enable him to dispel.
Ninth House
Uranus in 9th House. This “progressive minded” planet is thus placed in the horoscope of a man who makes extensive plans to work in and seeks for an increasingly wider sphere of activity. It is a position for an inventor, a big manufacturer, a resourceful man. We find this position in the case of air-men, successful publishers, and the manager of a factory with a worldwide sale.
This position however usually makes people superstitious, they are addicted to the carrying of talismans when travelling (cf. the many mascot for luck on motorcar, flying machines, and motor cycles, all of them Uranus vehicles!).
When afflicted travelling accidents or the collapse of lofty enterprises are very probable. Great care must be taken of the nerves.
Tenth House
Uranus in 10th House indicates somewhat peculiar occupations in a social-ethical direction. Uranus is the planet of altruism and inspiration, and posited in the house of calling indicates a field of activity whereby the weaker people of the world art protected, educated, and generally supported. Nursing, morally as well is physically, emancipation of women, the relief of the outcasts of society – all these will have his active approval – and in these fields he will meet with success.
It goes without saying that when afflicted, this cannot be done without incurring resistance or even ridicule. Sedate respectability and selfish calculating reason will be unable to join in the aim of this life and again and again resistance will be felt.
When well aspected the ideals may be expected to be.strong enough to hold their own in the midst of much opposition and disapprobation, and in the end the fruits of this difficult but courageous work may be gathered. Uranus placed here gives something original, at times even genius. A lively imagination and peculiar and rather special ideas render the personality very attractive even to those who understand but little of this character. But this fact does not prevent the native from being a “black sheep” for his family and the more old-fashioned of his acquaintances, a being whom in all possible ways they will try to convert. This however will only increase the alienation.
Upon the whole this position is an indication of a life full of vicissitudes, which cannot be disregarded. It points to the fact that only after many and various disappointments will people recognize that here is an original talent. Uranus rendered intuitive, resourceful, gives magnetic healing power.
Eleventh House
Uranus in 11th House. The native will have many connections among romantic, eccentric or bohemian people, with whom he busily discusses occultism and art. Joking, courteous, airily social contact with various people, also of the other sex, may be expected. If not quite strongly and harmoniously aspected the affections will have to grow in constancy, although their intentions are pure.
When afflicted, this position gives a probability of very peculiar experiences in intercourse with others – relations in between love and friendship, connections entered into suddenly, under romantic circumstances and broken off equally suddenly
The native’s feelings of sympathy and antipathy are very strong but changeable. Many acquaintances are found among idealistic, original and unconventional people with whom he talks much and enthusiastically and together with whom he devotes himself to the formation of a new human race and the construction of a new world, in which true brotherhood reigns and money does not exist. But he should be advised not to set to work too rashly or boldly, because trouble with public authorities and the general public may result.
Undeniably the native has a tendency towards philosophy, and cherishes very high ideals regarding justice and love. He should however be careful not to exaggerate these ideas and not be in too great a haste to proclaim them.
When afflicted this position of Uranus makes the native reckless, quickly decided, obstinate and willful, sometimes passionate and unreasonable, hated or feared by many.
Sometimes a rashness contrary to all better knowledge is evident and he turns a blind eye on all the dangers which may be entailed by a thoughtless action. It is desire, the native’s lower nature which must be restrained if he will reach real and lasting happiness; and it may be overcome by emphasizing and increasing his sense of responsibility.
Twelfth House
Uranus in 12th House, the house of self-communion and isolation, symbolizes very clearly all the hidden sorrow, all the sudden and acute distress of disappointment, and the continual, unaccountable fear of accidents which make life so hard for people with this position. If Uranus is retrograde (i.e. apparently going backwards) it indicates that all this exists in thought rather than in reality and that all these symptoms will disappear of their own accord if the native always keeps pure his thoughts.
Well aspected Uranus strengthens intuition in a high degree and adds a great mechanical capability to much originality. He will be interested in the fate of prisoners, and the possible improvement of prisons, also in law and the protection of minors and the lower classes. The native has a great desire to aid and help on his fellowmen, especially those who are weaker and less developed both spiritually and materially; to bring loftier truth, more intense consciousness and greater joy of life to all in need of these things.
It goes without saying that to this end the native’s own self must be completely under control and therefore sell-control will have to be cultivated as the foremost necessity.
He is greatly attracted to spiritualism; but he should be warned against thoughtless experiments in this direction, when Uranus in the 12th house is afflicted and therefore renders a less favorable effect upon the mind possible. This position gives a love of freedom which often causes more distress than sensible self-restraint.
