In Vedic cosmology, Kala means Time — not as a clock, but as the devouring god who consumes all forms. Sarpa, the Serpent, is the primordial force of coiling life energy — Kundalini, Shakti, and the ouroboric principle of endless rebirth. Together, Kala Sarpa is the Serpent of Time, an image of both bondage and transcendence: the endless spiral of creation devouring and regenerating itself.
In mythic terms, Rahu and Ketu are born from the immortal dragon Swarbhanu, cleaved in two by Vishnu’s discus during the celestial churning of the ocean. The head became Rahu, forever chasing the Sun and Moon; the tail became Ketu, forever dissolving back into the void. The Kala Sarpa Axis is their living body — the channel through which this cosmic chase unfolds in human consciousness.
Archetypally, it is The Time Serpent or The Alchemist of Karma — the being who turns darkness into wisdom, fear into fuel, and destiny into dharma.
